Health, Safety and Environmental Management

At Thorne Group Ltd we strongly believe that occupational health, safety and environmental management is a key function to the business that should be integrated into all areas of the work activities and considered at all stages rather than being treated as an add on extra.
We have worked hard to develop a robust occupational health, safety and environmental management system that is certified.  This involves us having detailed policies and procedures in place that ensure consistency across our company along with achieving compliance to the relevant legal requirements and current best practice. To ensure that compliance is maintained we are subject to annual accreditation audits that are carried out by an external provider.

Hazard Identification and Environmental Aspects

By planning ahead and making use of the experience within our organisation we are able to effectively identify the hazards and environmental aspects that are applicable to our work activities.
Once these have been identified we are then able to implement suitable measures to ensure that are work is carried out in a manner that is least likely to cause harm to personnel and damage to the environment.

Training

Training plays a key part in the success of developing and maintaining our exceptional health, safety and environmental culture. All our operatives are required to undertake relevant training in line with the work activities that they carry out. In addition to all our formal training courses we undertake regular in-house toolbox talks on topical subjects as required.

Examples of our training and certification include the following:

      • IOSH Safety for Senior Executives
      • NEBOSH Diploma
      • First Aid at Work
      • Asbestos Awareness
      • Demolition Awareness
      • CSCS, CPCS and CCDO
      • NRSWA

Monitoring

Monitoring is key to the success and we ensure that all sites are subject to biweekly formal inspections and all Site Management are subject to health, safety and environmental audits throughout each calendar year.
Where any non conformance is identified we require that immediate action is taken not only to correct the issue but also to further ensure that a reoccurrence cannot occur.
